Note: You can use your own device and software (instructors will be using Krita, krita.org) or use ours (Chromebook laptops + drawing tablets). Instructors will have limited ability to help with technical issues if you are using your own device. *Enough Chromebooks and drawing tablets are available for each student to use in class at no additional cost.

Join our talented instructor, Sonia Nadeau (professional children's book illustrator), as she guides young artists through the captivating techniques of digital illustration. This workshop is a gateway to sparking imagination, cultivating artistic skills, and exploring endless creative possibilities and styles.

What to Expect:

• Conquer the Basics: Introduces students to the fundamentals of digital art by exploring sketching, inking, colouring and shading, painting techniques, colour theory, character design, creating comics/webtoons, and more!
• Style & Design Exploration: Unleash your inner artist by delving into the iconic style of different artists. From unique characters to intricate backgrounds, discover the secrets behind captivating digital art visuals.
• Skill Levels Welcome: Whether you’re a budding artist or have some experience, this workshop caters to all skill levels. Everyone is invited to let their creativity soar!
• Creating Your Own Character: Have a unique piece for your portfolio showing your individual creativity.
• Dynamic Poses: Learn from the greats and recreate iconic poses.

Pre-registration is required. There is a limit of 15 spaces available and you must sign up for all six weeks. Registration closes on April 28th, 2025. 

These sessions are in-person at Studio Artshine, located at 44 Gaukel St in Downtown Kitchener. A welcome email will be sent prior to the first class.

Dates: May 1st, 8th, 22nd, 29th, June 5th, 12th 2025 (no class on May 15th).

Day of the Week: Thursdays

Time: Studio Open 6:00pm – 7:30pm. please arrive 10 minutes early to join the class, as late arrivals might have trouble accessing entry into the building.

Location: Studio Artshine (44 Gaukel Street, Kitchener). When you arrive, please come to the front doors closest to Charles Street. The Artshine instructor will let you into the building, as the doors remain locked at all times. 

Age: Grades 5+. The instructor can simplify and challenge artists depending on age and skill level. Participants over the age of 18 cannot attend this workshop, but please stay tuned for future adult workshops.

Price: $150 for all 6 classes in May - June. Early bird discount amount indicated at checkout or on product listing.
